Visit of the Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius in Stockholm
Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius has visited Stockholm on February 8-9, 2012. He participated in the Northern Forum where the prime ministers of the Nordic and Baltic countries and the UK had an opportunity to discuss the European debt crisis and growth in the long-term perspective. Main topics of the forum were how to get more women into senior management positions and entrepreneurship, and how older people can continue to be part of the labour force. During his visit A. Kubilius has met with CEOs of Swedebank and SEB. Economic perspectives in the region as well as stability of the banking system were discussed during these meetings. Prime Minister of Lithuania has emphasized the importance to secure better opportunities for business, especially SME’s, to get loans in order to speed up economic recovery. At the same time A. Kubilius has urged the banks to continue responsible lending policy. Perspectives for the future mutual cooperation were discussed during the meeting with TeliaSonera representatives. On this occasion a business arrangement was carried out at the SEB Headquarters on the 8th February, 2012. The Embassy of Lithuania in Sweden and SEB held a business lunch. The speaker of honor was the Prime Minister of Lithuania Mr Andrius Kubilius. Also two more presentations were given about Lithuanian economic situation and perspectives by Mikael Johansson, SEB Head of Baltic Research, and on business and investment climate in Lithuania and Baltic region by Kęstutis Sasnauskas, CEO of East Capital.
Among the participants there were representatives of the biggest Swedish companies like, AGA, AMF Pension, Bonnier Business Press International Fondförvaltning, ICA, Intrac Group, Newsec, Sweco, Systemair, TeliaSonera, 3iNordic, law firms like, Advokatfirman Nordia and Mannheimer Swartling Advokatbyrå, and also Swedish Trade Council and Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania.During the visit Andrius Kubilius had a lecture in the Stockholm School of Economics, where he spoke about economic crisis in Europe, lessons learned and lessons ignored.
Prime Ministers of Lithuania gave interview for Dagens Nyheter and Dagens Industri as well as representative of Wall Street Journal in Stockholm.
