The President congratulated Sweden on national day

Saturday, June 6, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations on behalf of the Lithuanian people and personally to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on national day.

“Our two nations are getting closer and closer because Lithuania and the Kingdom of Sweden maintain an all-inclusive political dialogue, while their people expand and strengthen mutually beneficial contacts in trade, science and education. Swedish business people willingly invest in Lithuania. I am delighted to note that we are united by common values and clear goals: to improve the welfare and security of our people and all Europeans as we work responsibly together in the Baltic Sea region and the European Union,” the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

She underlined that strong bonds between the Nordic and Baltic countries were increasingly complemented by mutual cultural initiatives, like the joint Midsummer celebration which had already acquired a distinct traditional dimension.

The President wished members of the Royal Family and the people of Sweden a wonderful day of celebration as well as continued well-being and prosperity.
