The Embassy of Lithuania in Sweden passed the baton of the Presidency of the EU to the Embassy of Greece

On the 16th January, 2014 the Embassies of Lithuania and Greece in Sweden organized an event where the closure of Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union was symbolically commemorated and the beginning of Greek Presidency formally inaugurated. The event, which took place at European Commission representative office in Stockholm, was attended by Per Westerberg, the Chairman of the Swedish Parliament, Frank Belfrage, the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and by other delegates from Swedish governmental institutions and non-governmental organisations as well as by representatives of the diplomatic corps. Pierre Schellekens the head of the European Commission representative office, positively summed up Lithuanian Presidency of the EU, recalling that Lithuanian Presidency took place throughout an intensive period. Aliki Hadji, Ambassador of Greece in Sweden, and Lithuanian Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas presented their speeches during the event. E.Bajarūnas presented the main achievements of the Presidency as well as the events in Sweden for this occasion, while Hadji presented the priorities of Greek Presidency of the EU.

 

All the guests in the event had an opportunity to try traditional Greek and Lithuanian cuisines.
