The Embassy in Sweden organized a meeting to discuss commemoration of 10 years anniversary of the EU membership

The Embassy of Lithuania in Sweden on the 21st January organized a meeting attended by the deputy heads of the Embassies of the EU member states that joined the EU in 2004. The deputy head of the Embassy of Greece, which now takes over the Presidency of the EU Council from Lithuania, and the deputy head of the representative office of the European Commission also attended the meeting. The participants of the meeting discussed the plans of arranging a joint seminar where the main achievements accomplished during the 10 years membership in the EU would be summed up and further EU enlargement would be discussed. In the meeting the deputy head of the Embassy of Lithuania Tomas Grabauskas also presented the results of Lithuania’s Presidency of the EU Council.

He also noted the pleasant coincidence, that the 10th Anniversary of the Membership in the EU is commemorated during Greek’s Presidency of the EU Council, as the treaty of the accession to the EU was signed in Athens.

It was agreed to organise a joint event in Stockholm to commemorate the occasion.
