The Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania was celebrated in Stockholm
On 16 February Lithuanian Embassy in Stockholm in cooperation with the Army Museum organized a reception on the occasion of the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania. Numerous representatives of the Swedish political and social arena, including the Speaker of the Riksdag Per Westerberg, the diplomatic corps, the representatives of the business community and the Lithuanian Community in Stockholm participated at the event in the Army Museum. The event started with an opening speech by the Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas. During the reception military flags of the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania were exhibited; the guests were also given the opportunity to see other historical objects from the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania located at the permanent exhibition of the Army Museum.
At the reception String Duo from Lithuania, consisting of Dalia Dedinskaitė (violin) and Gleb Pyšniak (cello), gave an uplifting concert. They performed several musical pieces of Lithuanian and international composers. Their performance has been sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania and organized in cooperation with Lithuanian Cultural Attaché in Denmark.
On 18 February Lithuanian Community in Stockholm is also organizing a celebration of the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania. The programme will include a performance by the folk dance ensamble „Baltija“ and a musical project by a Lithuanian singer Indrė Dirgėlaitė and her Swedish collegues titled „White sand songs“. The Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas will attend the event and give a greeting speech to the community.
