Sweden and Lithuania sign life sciences agreement at NLSDays

Enterprise Lithuania and SwedenBIO, the Swedish Life Science Industry Organization, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Nordic Life Sciences Days meeting in Stockholm to facilitate collaboration between both the organizations and the countries’ life science research centres and industries.

Mr. Mantas Nocius, Managing Director of Enterprise Lithuania, commented: “Focusing on life sciences is part of our national strategy to move to a knowledge-based economy. Having invested heavily in infrastructure in recent years, we are now looking to establish collaborations with leading international life science clusters. We have always admired Sweden and hope this MoU will lead to joint investment, cooperation and innovative projects, based around our key strengths in areas such as laser and medical device technology, biologics, informatics and clinical trials. ”

“The Lithuanian life science sector is strong and innovative and attracting a lot of attention as we have seen through the success of their Life Sciences Baltics conference”, said Dr. Jonas Ekstrand, Director General of SwedenBIO: “I am sure this joint initiative will be beneficial to both countries on several levels. We are honored to host the Lithuanian delegation”.

The signing took place at the international life science business meeting Nordic Life Science Days, in Stockholm on September 9-10, gathering 1000 life science business executives from more than 30 countries. Close to 700 companies and investors are present, and 2000 face-to-face meetings resulting in collaborations that are beneficial to the life science industry will be held. Nordic Life Science Days is a SwedenBIO event produced by BioNordic.
