Speaker of Parliament Irena Degutienė met Lithuanian Community members in Stockholm

On February 29  the Speaker of the Parliament Irena Degutienė has met the community of Lithuanians living in Sweden at the Ambassador‘s residence in Stockholm. The Speaker of the Parliament along with members of the Parliament Petras Auštrevičius and Konstantas Ramelis have arrived for an official visit. During an informal meeting with the Lithuanian community various issues related to the Lithuanian Sunday schools in Sweden, political, social and economic situation in Lithuania were lively discussed.

Chairwoman of Lithuanian communityThe Ambassador of Lithuania to Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas has briefly introduced the situation of Lithuanians in Sweden, their rough numbers and the events organized by the Embassy. The chairwoman of the Lithuanian Community in Sweden Lina Stode has described main activities and interests of the community, while Lithuanian Sunday school „Saulė“ teacher Rūta Miklovienė has revealed major concerns of the school.

V-StadjeAt the meeting the Speaker of the Parliament has awarded active community members - Edita Sääf, Audronė Vodzinskaitė-Städje and Aldona Sehgal - with written acknowledgments of their efforts and accomplishments in community affairs, fostering of Lithianian identity and engagement in cultural activities.
