Seminar on infrastrucutre developments and logistic opportunities between Lithuania and Sweden in Malmö
On the 24th of May 2012 follow-up business seminar “Infrastructure developments and logistic opportunities between Lithuania and Sweden” will take place in Malmö. Event is organized by the Embassy of Lithuania to Sweden, Region Skåne and General Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Malmö Ingmar Ingstad. The first seminar on the logistic opportunities between Lithuania and Sweden took on the 11th of March 2010 and immediately become particularly success as number of participants from Swedish side reached nearly 100 and was coupled with substantial Lithuanian involvement.
Transport comprises exceptionally important aspect of bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Sweden. Together Lithuania and Sweden are developing promising transport project “East-West Transport Corridor” (EWTC) with the idea to create a corridor which will connect Asian and European markets by an alternative inland transport route.
As two years has passed, a follow-up seminar would be a good opportunity to overview recent developments, to evaluate the progress achieved so far as well as to draw the guidelines for further cooperation. Exchange of information about transport sector infrastructure developments in Lithuania and Sweden, improvements in the area cross-border procedures as well as implementation of strategic infrastructure projects (Viking, Mercury, Saulė, etc.) would be the main topics for discussion during the forthcoming seminar. The seminar will be a good platform for Governmental and municipal institutions to inform about foreseen plans as regards development of transport sector in both countries as well as to listen to expectations and ideas in this field from business perspective.
Representatives from the Governmental institutions of Lithuania and Sweden, Swedish Regions of Skåne and Blekinge, Klaipėda sea port, Lithuanian Railways and relevant Swedish companies will take part in the event.
