Lithuania’s tourism opportunities were presented in Stockholm

On the 14th of March 2014, Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania together with Lithuanian State Tourism Department, office of Commercial Attache and Lithuanian Tourism Centre in Sweden presented tourism opportunities of Lithuania to Swedish tourism business community. During event which took place in the ferry of “Tallink-Silja Line” Ambassador of Lithuania to Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas welcomed the participants. Representative of Lithuanian State Tourism Department Ieva Druktenė informed about the developments in Lithuanian tourism sector. According to Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas, despite geographical proximity Lithuania is still undiscovered market for Swedish tourists. At the same time, Lithuania has much to offer – nice beaches, beautiful nature, spa resorts, old towns of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda etc. Moreover, some nice castles such as Biržai, Kėdainiai, etc have historical Swedish connections.

More than 30 representatives from Swedish media, tour operators and transport companies took part in the event. They had the opportunity to meet with representatives of Lithuanian tourism agencies, hotels, etc.

According to official data during the year 2013 the flows of Swedish tourists to Lithuania has increased by 10 percent and concluded more than 50 000 people. In addition to direct flight from Stockholm to Vilnius operated by SAS, Norwegian company “Norwegian Air” will start the similar flights from May 2014.
