Lithuanian Honorary Consulate opened in Linköping
Lithuania's 8th Honorary Consulate in Sweden was officially opened in the city of Linköping on Wednesday, 24th of January. Mr. Ulrik Lindblad has been appointed honorary consul of the County of Ostergotland.
At the opening ceremony the Ambassador of Lithuania in Sweden, Algimantas Rimkūnas, noted that the opening of Lithuania’s Honorary Consulate in Linköping, which is among other things famous for its SAAB enterprise, multiple companies working in the field of modern technology development and Linköping University, will ensure good conditions for cooperation with Lithuanian companies and educational institutions. Since 1992, Linköping has also been in partnership with the city of Kaunas.
Among other honoured guests the Director of European Countries Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Jolanta Balčiūnienė, participated in the Honorary Consulate’s opening ceremony. Welcome speeches were given by the Governor of Ostergotland County, Elisabeth Nilsson, the Mayor of Linköping, Helena Balthammar, and by Communications Manager of Linköping’s Science Park, Fredrik Larsson.
