Lithuanian Honorary Consul elected a new President of the Corps Consulaire en Suède
On May 9 an Annual General Meeting of the Corps Consulaire en Suède was held in Malmö. Lithuanian Honorary Consul in Gothenburg Birgitta Jacobsson Ekblom was elected a new President of the e Corps Consulaire en Suède.
Corps Consulaire en Suède (CC) was established in 1931 in Stockholm as a non-profit association to serve the interests of the honorary consuls of foreign countries in Sweden. The mission of CC is to represent the consular corps towards the authorities and national organisations in Sweden, to represent the consular corps in international consular contexts, to follow up on legal issues and conventions, to act as a knowledge and information channel between the regional consular organisations and to deal with policy and ethical issues.
Members of CC are the three regional consular organisations The Consular Corps of Stockholm (CCSt), The Consular Corps of Southern Sweden (CCSS) and The Consular Corps of Western Sweden (CCWS) . The Board of CC is composed of one representative and one deputy of each region. The chairmanship of CC rotates between the regions, one year at a time. The president of CCSt is the main contact person with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
CC represents over 300 members in the regional consular organisations in Sweden of which about two thirds are active consuls with an execuatur and one third are consuls who have left their active service.
