Lithuanian Embassy in Sweden organized a meeting with Swedish Minister for the EU Affairs Minister Birgitta Ohlsson

On December 18, Lithuanian Embassy in Sweden organized a meeting for ambassadors of the EU member and candidate states with Swedish Minister for the EU Affairs Birgitta Ohlsson. Lithuanian Ambassador in Stockholm Eitvydas Bajarūnas presented the results of the Lithuanian EU Presidency highlighting the important agreement on the EU's 2014-2020 budget, progress on the Banking Union, Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit as well as reached agreements on energy and other important issues. He also thanked Swedish Government for its support to Lithuania while achieving these objectives. B.Ohlsson reviewed Sweden’s position on the main topics of the EU agenda, emphasizing the importance of the elections for the European Parliament in May 2014. She commended Lithuania for a successful Presidency and underlined that all three Baltic States could be a model how to cope with financial crisis.

It was the last EU Presidency related event organized by the Lithuanian Embassy in Sweden. In addition to official seminars, cultural events and lectures, there have been meetings with diplomats, Swedish prime minister, ministers for foreign affairs, defense and finance, the Secretary of State for Energy and the Social Democratic Party representative for foreign policy.

An event is scheduled to present the results of the Lithuanian EU Presidency and the priorities of the Greek EU Presidency in January 2014.
