Lithuanian ambassador participated in the annual Swedish-Lithuanian associations meeting

On 7-8 September 2012 Lithuanian ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas participated in the annual Swedish-Lithuanian associations meeting in the southern city of Karlskrona in Sweden. The purpose of this association is to unite individuals and companies that seek to establish stronger connections between Lithuania and Sweden in business, environment, education and culture areas, as well as to develop the already existing charity work. This year more than 50 representatives from Vilnius, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Kėdainiai, Radviliškis and other Lithuanian cities participated. The event has also been welcomed by the chairman of the Karlskrona municipality board Peter Glimvall, the chairman of the National Society and pastor Walla Carlssson, the chairman of the Swedish-Lithuanian association in Lithuania Vytautas Šimelis. During the event ambassador has invited everybody to expand human relations even more between Sweden and Lithuania, in order to involve more municipality institutions, youth organizations, culture and education institutions od both countries. Participants of the event have kindly shared their experiences in different fields, such as social projects, youth employment, small and medium business activities, cultural shares.

In the folk school of Karlskrona "Litorina", there has been a youth seminar organized where youngsters from Karlskrona and Plungė participated, while in the city museum there has been a seminar for the works of famous Lithuanian writer Jurga Ivanauskaitė organized. Beside that, the participants had an opportunity to visit a few local farms and to get to know the local business of farming better.

 The next annual Swedish-Lithuanian associations meeting is about to be held in Lithuania.
