Lithuanian Ambassador congratulated Lithuanian folk group dancers from Stockholm
Lithuanian folk dance group Baltija commemorated its 10th anniversary on June 15, 2013 in Stockholm. Lithuanian Ambassador in Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas congratulated the dancers on behalf of Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs L. Linkevičius by wishing to cherish the Lithuanian identity further as well as to celebrate Lithuanian culture and heritage. Lithuanian folk dance group Švyturys from Cleveland (USA), Latvian folk dance group from Stockholm, and representatives from Swedish Lithuanian community as well as Alborg community (Denmark) also attended jubilee concert and congratulated the Lithuanians in Sweden. Baltija is the only one Lithuanian folk dance group in Nordic countries. The birthday of the dance group can be considered to be September 14, 2003, when Jurga Laurenčikienė and Evaldas Laurenčikas brought together all interested for a first rehearsal. Over the time, the Baltija continued to grow and evolve, also had a number of performances both in Sweden and abroad - U.S., UK, Denmark and elsewhere. Baltija has also participated in the World Lithuanian Song Festival. The group performs both stage customized and authentic folk dances.
This year on February 16 Baltija dance group participated at National Day commemoration held by Lithuanian Embassy in Sweden.
