Lithuania is No. 14 according to the International Living 2009 Quality of Life Index

According to the International Living 2009 Quality of Life Index, quality of life in Lithuania (consisting of cost of living, leisure and culture, economy, environment, freedom, health, infrastructure, risk and safety as well as climate) is one of the highest among the new EU-12 members as well as among more than 190 countries of the world.

Lithuania is No. 14 in the Index, with the overall final score of 70 points, and follows France (No. 1), Switzerland (No. 2), the United States (No. 3), Luxembourg, Australia, Belgium, Italy, Germany, New Zealand, Denmark, Malta, Sweden and Uruguay.

The latest Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2009 by the World Economic Forum reveals that “Hong Kong, Lithuania, and Malta are top-ranked for the quality of health and hygiene, with high levels of access to clean drinking water and sanitation. In addition, hospital beds and doctors are readily available for those who do fall ill. They are therefore able to cater very well to a major concern for tourists when considering where to travel abroad.”
