Invitation to event and exhibition
Embassy of Republic of Lithuania together with Jewish Community of Stockholm are kindly inviting to an event and exhibition dedicated to honor the memory of Lithuania Jews during the Holocaust, which will take place on 19th of June at Jewish Community of Stockholm, Wahrendorffsgatan 3.
The event will start at 6 p.m. with possibility to have a look at the exhibition and will be followed by official opening ceremony at 7.00 p.m.
During this event the photography exhibition “The Jewish World of Yesterday: pictures and stories from Centropa interviews in Lithuania” will be exposed. The concept of exposition was prepared by Centropa, a Vienna and Budapest-based non-profit NGO that uses advanced technologies to preserve Jewish memory in Central and Eastern Europe. Baltics Volunteers of the organization have asked 22 Jews who was born in Lithuania during the interwar period and had survived the Holocaust. There were collected about 500 photographs, part of which is displayed in this exhibition.
The event will be opened by Ambassador of Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas and representative of Jewish Community of Stockholm John Gradowski. Vice President of Lithuanian-Jewish Community Faina Kukliansky and Swedish historians will make presentations. Event will be followed by broad discussion on the subject of Holocaust and short reception.
