Invitation to a seminar "Energy Security: Diversification, Sustainability and Security – Lithuanian and Swedish Policy Responses"
The European Commission, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania, invites you to a discussion on energy security and sustainability Energy Security: Diversification, Sustainability and Security – Lithuanian and Swedish Policy Responses
The EU Energy Union aims to ensure that Europe has secure, affordable and climate-friendly energy. It builds on five pillars, all mutually interlinked – security of supply, decarbonisation of the economy, energy efficiency, an integrated energy market, research and innovation. The Baltic region has many energy challenges due to its geographic position, but also many opportunities. The currently ongoing review of Lithuanian national energy strategy aims to create an energy policy based on diversification, sustainability and security. Sweden is also moving towards a more secure, sustainable energy future, with focus on the bioeconomy and the aim to reach zero net CO2 emissions by 2050. What energy policy challenges and opportunities are currently facing Sweden and Lithuania and the increasingly integrated Nordic and Baltic electricity markets?
