Invitation to a presentation of exhibitions
We cordialy invite you to take part at a presentation of exhibitions, which will be held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Lithuania on 23th of January, 2016 at 16.00 at Strandvägen 53, Stockholm. The art exhibition of the Lithuanian artists living and creating in Sweden and the Varnauskas’ Family Art Collection will be inaugurated during the event.
The art exhibition of the Lithuanian artists living and creating in Sweden develops the ideas of the art project ”Dual Identity”, which investigates forms of contemporary identity. The project has been iniciated by the Embassy of Lithuania to Sweden. Works of visual and applied art of Vilija Liorančienė (painting), Asta Norkutė (graphic art), Monika Vaicenavičienė (graphic art, illustrations), Dalia Lopez Madrona (art objects), Saulius Krikščiukaitis (drawings), Eglė Česonytė-Straigienė (ceramics), Justina Rosengren (photography) and Irina Novokreščionova (aquarelles) will be presented at the event, you will have the opportunity to meet the authors as well.
Edvardas Varnauskas (1923-2014) - Lithuanian professor cardiologist, doctor of medicine and Vilnius University Honorary Doctor who living in Sweden fostered Lithuanian traditions. His great achievements in medicine etc. contributed to a positive image of Lithuania. The collection, consisted of the art pieces of the recognized Lithuanian artists of 70-90’s of the 20th century can be rightfully concidered a heritage of modern Lithuanian art.
