Emabssy of Lithuania has organised the seminar on energy in Stockholm

On April 4, 2013 Embassy of Lithuania together with Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications and Europan Commission representation have organised seminar „Electricity markets and interconnections“ with participation of Minister of Energy of Lithuania Jaroslav Neverovič. This seminar is a part of the events organized by the Embassy of Lithuania dedicated to the forthcoming Lithuanian EU Presidency. During the seminar was stressed that creation of common European energy market is a vital condition in order to ensure favorable prices to European customers, energy security and sustainability. Minister J. Neverovič has stressed that energy is one of the main priorities of Lithuanian EU Presidency. “Lithuania will be the first among the Baltic states to hold the Presidency of the EU Council. Having the opportunity to contribute to the objectives that EU declared back in 2011 – to complete internal energy market until 2014 and to eliminate any existing energy islands until 2015 – is an honorable challenge for us” – said Minister of Energy Jaroslav Neverovič during his speech at the seminar. “Common market can be created only after the elimination of the isolation of certain countries from the EU energy system. To do this, we must develop the necessary infrastructure. An important part of this infrastructure will be the projects of electricity and gas interconnections implemented by Lithuania” – said J. Neverovič. State Secretary for Energy Daniel Johansson, Head of European Commission representation in Sweden Pierre Schellekens, former Director of Swedish Energy Market Inspectorate Yvonne Fredriksson and Director of Strategy Department of Lithuanian energy company LITGRID Liudas Liutkevičius were among the speakers during the seminar.

During his visit in Stockholm Minister J. Neverovič has met with the Minister of Energy and IT of Sweden Anna-Karin Hatt. Lithuanian EU Presidency, EU energy agenda and strategic energy infrastructure projects implemented by Lithuania were discussed during this meeting.
