Defense and security issues discussed during the EU ambassadors meeting with Swedish Defence Minister
Lithuanian Embassy in Sweden organized a meeting for the EU member states’ and candidate states’ ambassadors with Swedish Defense Minister Karin Enström on the 29 of November. During the meeting Lithuanian Ambassador in Stockholm Eitvydas Bajarūnas presented Lithuanian EU Presidency as well as priorities in the field of the EU Common Security and Defence Policy, emphasizing the Eastern Partnership, energy security, strengthening of the EU and NATO relations. He added that the Lithuanian Embassy in Sweden is performing functions of the NATO Contact Point Embassy in Sweden in 2013-2014.Minister K.Enström reviewed the main Swedish defense and security policy priorities. Great attention was paid to the European Council in December, which will concentrate on defense and security issues, as well as Nordic and Baltic defense cooperation.
