Congratulatory Letter of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden
Vilnius, 3 October, 2014 Dear Madam Minister, Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden. I would like to take this opportunity to stress that Lithuania attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Sweden. Lithuania has close and consistent cooperation with Sweden, we are linked by an intensive economic relations and common activities in the European Union, NB8, UN and other international formats. Sweden is a top investor in Lithuania and important trade partner. Next year strategic NordBalt project will be implemented. It will connect our electric systems and will be a huge step towards strengthening of energy security as well as great opportunity for consumers to enjoy the advantages of bigger market. Lithuania follows very closely your internal discussions about closer ties with NATO and considers Sweden an indispensable security partner in the region.
I am confident that strategic cooperation between Lithuania and Sweden will continue to develop for the benefit of both our nations and for a stronger Europe. With regard both to the challenges and to the opportunities that we are facing, it is my sincere belief that your valuable experience in the European Commission and UN will give special momentum to our cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
