Lithuanian poet Donelaitis – the Homer of Lithuania When: Wednesday, October 29, at 5 - 7 p.m. Where: E487, House E, 4th floor, room E487, Stockholm University Shortly about the event: This year Lithuania is celebrating the 300-year anniversary of the birth of Kristijonas Donelaitis - a giant of Lithuanian literature. Prof. Dainora Pociute, Head of the Department of Lithuanian Literature, Chairwoman of the Vilnius University Senate, will present the topic: Kristijonas Donelaitis "The Seasons": Masterpiece of Lithuanian Lutheran Culture of East Prussia. The seminar will be opened by Ambassador of Lithuania Eitvydas Bajarūnas and followed by a festive opening of the Donelaitis Exhibition at the entrance to Stockholm University Library.

Andrius Mamontovas and band concert in Helsingborg and Stockholm

Photography exhibition: ”A Kaddish for the wooden synagogues of Lithuania”
When: Monday, November 10, at 6.30 p.m.
Where: Stockholm, Wahrendorffsgatan 3, Sessionsalen
Shortly about the event: during the exhibition 20 unique photographies from 17 remaining synagogues in Lithuania will be presented. Synagogues are not only Lithuanian but also Eastern European cultural heritage. Daumantas Levas Todesas, Director of Jakovas Bunka Charity and Sponsorship Fund, the initiator of the exhibition, and Ambassador Bajarunas will attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition. Dr. Jurgita verbickienė, historian from Vilnius University, will present the most crucial historical moments from Jewish history.
