Briefing on the relations between NATO and Sweden presented in the Lithuanian Embassy

On the 11th of April 2014 the Lithuanian Embassy in Stockholm, carrying out the functions of NATO’s Contact Point Embassy in Sweden, organized NATO delegation’s briefing on Sweden’s participation in NATO PfP Planning and Review Process (PARP). The attendees of the event were representatives of NATO member state embassies. The delegation from NATO headquarters led by Director of Defence Policy and Planning  Division Frank Boland presented information about the discussions that took place for the past two days with the Swedish officials on the progress of Sweden’s participation in PARP. Counsellor of Lithuanian Embassy in Stockholm Tomas Grabauskas informed the participants of the meeting about past and future events that Lithuanian Embassy organized as NATO’s Contact Point Embassy. It was noted that on the 10th of April Embassy of Lithuania together with the Swedish NGO “Society and Defence” organized a seminar dedicated to the 10 years anniversary of NATO membership. The minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius took part in the seminar and made a keynote statement. There are two upcoming events - discussion with Swedish experts on defense and security on the 29th of April, as well as an event on forthcoming NATO Summit.

One of the main tasks of NATO’s Contact Point Embassy in Stockholm 2013-2014 is to spread information about the Alliance, organizing NATO related events and support to the Alliance partner country Sweden in carrying out various NATO projects and programs.
