„Between Shades of Gray“ by R. Šepetys presented in Stockholm
On the 29th - 30th of May an American writer of Lithuanian descent R. Šepetys visited Stockholm. Visit was initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden and a Swedish publishing house B|Walströms. Presentation of her bestseller book „Between Shades of Gray“ in Stockholm was partly funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.There were arranged several events in Stockholm. Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Sweden in collaboration with Stockholm International Library organized presentation of novel “Between Shades of Gray” which gathered not only members of Lithuanian community but also people who are interested in history and destiny of Baltic states, including members of the Parliament, writers, journalists, etc. B|Walströms published this novel in Swedish last year. Furthermore, novel “Between Shades of Gray” was introduced to members of International Women’s Club of Stockholm and American Women’s Club at the residence of Ambassador E. Bajarūnas.
“Between Sahdes of Gray” is the first novel of Ruta Sepetys. This is a historical novel well known all over the world which tells about Lithuanians’ deportation to Siberia during the World War II. The book is translated into 27 languages and has won many international awards, including RTL Lire for the best youth novel in France, Carnegie medal in UK, ect.
In endeavour of Embassy of Republic of Lithuania to Sweden and Ministry of Culture of Republic of Lithuania novel “Between Shades of Gray” by R. Šepetys will be presented in Gothenburg International Book Fair this September.
