Ambassador presented Lithuanian position on the EU Baltic Sea Region Strategy
On the 13th of March 2013, Ambassador of Lithuania Eitvydas Bajarūnas participated in the event organized by Swedish Agency of Economic and Regional Growth, where presented the priorities during forthcoming Lithuanian EU Presidency on the second half of 2013 as well as main tasks while implementing the EU Baltic Sea Region Strategy (BSRS). The role of the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth is to strengthen regional development and facilitate enterprise and entrepreneurship throughout Sweden. It is also responsible for practical implementation of the EU BSRS. In his presentation E. Bajarūnas emphasized that effective implementation of the EU BSRS is among main national priorities during the EU Presidency. He informed that the 4th annual forum of the EU BSRS will take place in November this year in Vilnius and invited Swedish representatives actively participate in this event.
Ambassador has also noted successful Lithuanian and Swedish cooperation while implementing the EU BSRS in the fields of agriculture, transport, innovation, etc. He stressed that the EU BSRS was launched during the Swedish EU Presidency in 2009 and expressed belief regarding full support from Sweden in implementing this priority.
