Ambassador overviewed Lithuanian EU Presidency and encouraged regional cooperation in Gothenburg

Continuing the Lithuanian EU Presidency presentations in the regions of Sweden, 2013 October 30, Lithuanian Ambassador in Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas visited the second largest Swedish city - Gothenburg, where he met with the President of the Municipal Council Lena Malm, Vice President of the Board of Västra Götaland Johnny Magnusson, other local and regional politicians and officials. Ambassador also gave a lecture at the meeting of the Foreign Policy Association at the University of Gothenburg. He also discussed the priorities of the Lithuanian EU Presidency with the journalists from the largest newspaper in Gothenburg and in western Sweden Göteborgs-Posten.

During the meetings E.Bajarūnas introduced the priorities and results of Lithuanian EU Presidency. He also discussed opportunities for regional co-peration. E. Bajarunas stressed that the EU Presidency is a good chance to introduce Lithuanian culture, economical potential and investment opportunities. In his lecture Ambassador talked to the students about Lithuanian – Swedish historical connections, presented the Lithuanian foreign policy priorities.

The visit was organized together with the Lithuanian honorary consul in Gothenburg Birgitta Jacobsson Ekblom.
