Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania promoted regional cooperation
On the 12-13 of April Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas together with a group of other foreign ambassadors visited Norrköping and Linköping where they met with the leadership of these cities, including Governor of Östergötland Elisabeth Nilsson, 1st Vice Chair of Norrköping Municipal Council Olle Vikmång, executives of various enterprises, industrial and trade associations. At the meetings promotion of relations with Lithuania and rendering of experience were discussed.
The former center of Swedish textile and electronics industry - Norrköping is situated in the East of Sweden. Several decades ago this city found a new niche - high technologies and recycling industry. The city is famous for its “knowledge economy” oriented small and medium companies; a thorough overview was presented at the Industrial Landscape of Norrköping and world class Visualisation Center of Norrköping University. Norrköping is an important logistics and transport centre where the forth largest sea port of Sweden is located.
Linköping is the centre of Östergötland famous for its high-technologies industry and Saab military aircrafts. Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas together with a group of ambassadors also visited Tecniska Verken, one of the leading companies in the world in the use of waste for the production of energy and heat.
