Ambassador of Lithuania expressed his gratitude to the members of the National Swedish-Lithuanian Society for intensive co-operation

Eitvydas Bajarunas, Ambassador of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden, attended the annual meeting of the National Swedish-Lithuanian Society on September 5-6 in Växjö, Sweden. Bajarunas expressed his gratitude to the society members for their activities and invited to develop the co-operation between the municipalities, youth organisations, cultural and educational institutions of both countries further.

During the meeting mutual experience was shared in various fields such as social projects, youth employment, small and middle scale firm activities and cultural exchanges.

Berit Swalander, Deputy Mayor of Växjö, Sweden, and Walla Carlsson, President of the National Swedish-Lithuanian Society, welcomed the attendees of the meeting. The representatives from Kaunas, Klaipeda, Panevezys, Kedainiai, Radviliskis and other cities of Lithuania attended the meeting. The next annual meeting of the National Swedish-Lithuanian Society is going to be organised in Lithuania.

Ambassador Bajarunas met and discussed the future co-operation prospects between Växjö and other Lithuanian regions in “green” energy and innovations with  Bo Frank, mayor of Växjö Sweden, Åsa Björkmarker, Deputy Mayor of Växjö, and with the other officers. The disccusion on forthcoming 25th Anniversary of Växjö and Kaunas bilateral co-operation were also on the meeting‘s agenda.

The National Swedish-Lithuanian Society unites Swedish and Lithuanian institutions and private persons aiming to stengthen and develop mutual economic, environmental, educational and cultural relationships.

Växjö - the centre of the Kronoberg Country in Sweden with arround 70 thousand inhabitants.  The town is famous by its Linnaeus University. Växjö is widely admired for its ”green” environmental and energy politics and is being named as the ”greenest” European city.
