Ambassador of Lithuania awarded Swedish officers with NATO medals for their service in Afghanistan
In occassion of Swedish Veteran’s Day Ambassador of Lithuania to Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas on behalf of NATO Secretary General awarded three Swedish officers with NATO Meritorious Service Medals for their service during NATO ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
Embassy of Lithuania is NATO contact point embassy in Sweden for the period 2013-2014.
Three Swedish officers – captain Andreas Gustafsson, sergeant Niklas Rosen and private Daniel Gröndahl – were awarded with NATO medals for their excellent service in Afghanistan.
King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf awarded Swedish veterans, wounded during military battles, and other officers for their military duty. Deputy Prime Minister Jan Björklund and Minister of Defence Karin Enström, Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces Svarker Göranson, veterans, representatives of civil society and diplomatic corps have also participated in the ceremony.
Veteran’s Day, which is celebrated every year, is becoming more and more popular in Sweden. It is considered as a good opportunity to establish closer relations between society and army.
