Ambassador met with Director General of Swedish Institute in Stockholm
On the 3rd of April 2012 Ambassador of Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas met with Director General of Swedish Institute Annika Rembre to discuss cooperation in the field of culture, education and information. During the meeting Eitvydas Bajarūnas introduced initiatives of Lithuanian presidency in Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) and its main projects – common information space and business representation in the third countries. In 2013 NB8 will be coordinated by Sweden.
It was stressed the need for intensifying bilateral Lithuanian-Swedish cooperation in the field of culture, education and human exchange.
Swedish institute was established in 1945. The principal aims of this organization are to develop international cooperation and to make Sweden better known abroad. In 2012 the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency’s (SIDA) Baltic Sea Unit had merged with Swedish Institute. The fundamental goals of the Unit, which is located in Gotland, are to coordinate and strengthen Sweden’s overall activities in the Baltic States.
