Ambassador in Sweden presented the priorities of Lithuanian EU Presidency and encouraged regional cooperation
On September 17 – 18 Lithuanian Ambassador in Sweden E. Bajarūnas visited the city of Karlskrona. He attended a round table discussion about the priorities of Lithuanian EU Presidency and regional cooperation. Ambassador also attended the opening of exhibition “Lithuanian landscapes” and visited Blekinge institute of technology. Regional cooperation was discussed during the round table debate which was organized by the municipalities of Klaipėda and Karlskrona. The advisor to the mayor of Klaipėda S. Gentvilas also participated in the discussion, as well as A. Skuodas, Commercial Director of Terminal for Cargo and Passengers in Klaipėda), delegates from the municipality of Karlskrona, Stena Line and ABB. Ambassador E. Bajarūnas presented the priorities of Lithuanian EU Presidency. He emphasized that Lithuania is the first Baltic country to to assume this honorable and important task. E. Bajarūnas stressed that the Presidency is a good chance to introduce Lithuanian culture, economical potential and investment opportunities. Ambassador also reviewed the most important projects in the fields of energy and transport infrastructure. S.Gentvilas presented the historical aspects of Klaipeda – Karlskrona cooperation and elaborated on the prospects of future cooperation. A.Skuodas presented the activities of Klaipeda sea port and the new terminal for cargo and passengers. The delegate from ABB talked about their input to the project NordBalt. The delegate from Stena Line presented the activities of Karlskrona sea port and the plans for new ferry lines.
The exhibition “Lithuanian landscapes” was unveiled after the round table discussion. It was attended by the President of Karslkrona municipality council, representatives of Lithuanian–Swedish community, business, cultural and academic fields. The exhibition was presented by the manager of “Arka” gallery D.Tomkutė and the curator A. Vozbinas. The exhibition includes pieces by 8 Lithuanian painters.
On September 18 Ambassador E. Bajarunas together with the delegates from the municipality of Klaipėda visited Blekinge institute of technology. They presented the priorities of Lithuanian EU Presidency, Lithuanian–Swedish relations and regional cooperation. Ambassador acquainted himself to the program of Baltic University. He also discussed the prospects of collaboration between Univesity of Klaipeda and Blekinge institute of technology.
