Ambassador has started introduction of Lithuanian EU Presidency during Almadalen Week
On July 1, start of Lithuanian Presidency of the European Union Council has been marked in Visby, the island of Gotland, where Almedalen week is taking place. Lithuanian EU Presidency presentation events in Visby on July 1st started from a joint seminar of Lithuanian Ambassador to Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas and Head of the European Commission Delegation in Sweden Pierre Schellekens. The the key priorities of the Lithuanian EU Presidency were presented in the semminar. The Ambassador noted that Lithuania is the first Baltic State to take over reponsibilities of the Presidency of the EU Council. According to him, this is a great achievement and an opportunity to introduce the country. Participants of the seminar were actively interested in Lithuanian economic reforms, the ability to successfully overcome the crisis and the energy policy. The most important Lithuanian EU Presidency presentation event during Almadalen week will be held on July 5. It will be the lecture of the first Head of the State after regaining the independence Vytautas Landsbergis "Europe is calling: Lithuania - from the Soviet occupation to the EU Presidency" jointly organized by the European Commission and the Lithuanian Embassy in Sweden.
Lithuanian ambassador to Sweden is going to attend whole week events and present the aspects of Presidency of the EU Council which will be discussed on July 1 in the seminar organized by Swedish Institute called "Cooperation in the Baltic Sea region - a sustainable business opportunity?" The aim of it is to discuss how small and medium-sized enterprises can cooperate and benefit from working together in the Baltic Sea region. On July 5 E. Bajarūnas is going to take part in the seminar about implementation of the EU Baltic Sea Region Strategy.
Ambassador will also open an exhibition "Creative Lithuania" and another joint exhibition by Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts and the Gotland School of Art students.
