Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas promoted further co-operation in a Swedish town Jönköping
On 24-25 of February Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden Eitvydas Bajarūnas visited Jönköping. During this visit Ambassador discussed regional co-operation issues with municipal officers, met business representatives and opened the annual congress of Swedish-Lithuanian association. Ambassador visited the international exhibition hall of Jönköping ELMIA, where he had a discussion with Executive Director of ELMIA Hans Standar and other officials. ELMIA is the third biggest exhibition center in Sweden where annual word-class expositions are held, including World Bioenergy exhibition to take place on 29-30 of May and Elmia Subcontractor on 6-9 of November, devoted to high level engineering and technology. Representatives from Lithuania will participate in these exhibitions. When visiting Jönköping, Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas discussed regional cooperation possibilities between Lithuanian and Swedish municipalities with the Governor of Jönköping Minoo Aktharzand.
Jönköping district is in the centre of the Southern part of Sweden. Because of its geographical location and access to the Vättern lake, Jönköping is a centre of exhibitions and logistics, where companies like IKEA, Electrolux and Husqvarna have located their main warehouses.
During the annual congress of Swedish-Lithuanian association Ambassador Eitvydas Bajarūnas thanked the members of the association for a long-lived collaboration with Lithuanian regions, successful implementation of joint projects, charitable and cultural activities. The Ambassador also encouraged the organization to search for new ways of co-operation taking into account a rapidly changing economical and cultural situation in Lithuania. President of the national Swedish-Lithuanian association pastor Walla Carlsson introduced current charity projects and future plans. It was agreed to strengthen co-operation between the Swedish-Lithuanian national association and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden.
