Ambassador E. Bajarūnas participates in Europaforum Hässleholm

On 25 August Ambassador E. Bajarūnas participates in Europaforum Hässleholm, which takes place in South of Sweden. Ambassador taking part in a seminar "The EU and the conflict in Ukraine - what can we do” pointed out that the choice of the Ukrainian people to preserve the unity of the country and build an open, democratic and prosperous state was characteristic of a responsible and mature society. E. Bajarūnas highlighted that Europe has to speak in one voice and ensure wide-ranging cooperation and benevolent support and assistance to Ukraine. “We have to support Ukraine in becoming functional market economy country ensuring the fundamental principle that Ukrainian people are the ones who make the choice”, said the ambassador.

In the seminar also participated the former Polish finance minister and Chairman of the Central Bank Leszek Balcerowicz, the former Austrian vice-chancellor Michael Spindelegger, experts and analysts.

Europaforum Hässleholm started as a half-day seminar in 2003. Today it is Sweden’s major arena for discussions on Europe and the European Union. Once per year, politicians, experts, and the public meet here to discuss current issues from a European point of view.
